🌎 October is AAC Awareness Month 🌎
AAC stands for Augmentative and Alternative Communication. It includes tools and strategies—such as communication boards, speech-generating devices, gestures, and picture symbols—that support people with complex communication needs.
AAC is not just about technology—it’s about equity, inclusion, and empowerment. It opens doors for students to share their thoughts, express feelings, build relationships, and participate fully in school, work, and community life.
This month, BLUE SEA honors AAC users, families, and professionals who work tirelessly to make sure that every voice is heard. Communication is a human right—and AAC makes that right possible.
Let’s use October to spread understanding, advocate for accessibility, and celebrate the many ways people communicate. Because when we give someone a voice, we give them connection, dignity, and opportunity.
