This presentation will discuss the sensory problems seen in childhood mental health disorders. It will include practicing the administration of the adolescent adult sensory profile and how you can use the results in setting up treatment goals for your clients.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- To identify at least 3 components of sensory systems.
- Administer the Sensory Profile (participants will be provided with a copy of the Sensory Profile at the onset of the in-person course offering) on themselves.
- Name at least 3 interventions that can be applied to address issues in each of the four quadrants of the Sensory Profile
- Demonstrate through a case scenario exercise what 3 sensory interventions will be most effective for the client in the case.
Target Audience
This course is best intended for occupational therapists, educators and professional members of the school-based support team.

About the Presenters
Dr. Henry Hanif M.A., OTR
Mr. Hanif is the senior occupational therapist at Mount Sinai Behavioral Health Center. He has been a mental health OT for close to 25 years. He works on an inpatient psychiatric unit composed of adults and geriatric patients that are dealing with depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, adjustment disorder, schizoaffective disorder and dementia. Primary mode of treatment that Mr Hanif conducts on this unit is leading groups. He currently leads 15 groups a week on the unit. He also supervises an OTR, an OTA and interns. Mr. Hanif is a clinical professor in occupational therapy at several universities in New York. He has taught and continues to teach the following courses: Group Process, Mental Health Assessment and Evaluation, Meath Health Treatment 1 and 2, Disability and Advocacy, Geriatrics, and Community Mental Health.
